ERT Fire Department New Support Rig

Post by DCBurke on Tue Apr 05, 2011 9:20 pm

Today, the Emergency Response team will be replacing two of it's Support vehicles with one new Changeable Response Unit, the first of it's kind in the state. I'm here with National Director and District Commissioner for Phoxlind area ERT, D Burke. Commissioner Burke, what can you tell us about this machine?
'It's a brand new rig from Pierce, delivered just yesterday, and will allow us to respond to all sorts of calls with just one rig, or even, bring different Units to the scene, drop them off, and pick up others. We currently have three in our station now, each the size of a pickup truck bed, and about 4 feet tall. We have a mini pumper and SCBA recharging Unit, Standard Fire fighter support, and a rescue support unit. These can be changed within a two minute window, which will drastically improve our response capabilities. We can also drop one of these off at a scene, then go back, pick up a new one and go to a different emergency, allowing multiple jobs to be done by one truck.'
'That's quite amazing sir, now it's come to my attention that there were two new trucks bought jsut last year for the ERT to serve as seperate support trucks'
'Yes, we have not scrapped those either. Our Rescue support was donated to PFD Industrial, to be reoutfitted for an Industrial light rescue, allowing quick response in that area to all sorts of calls. Our other unit was donated to the Trulit Fire Department as a support truck for them.'
